Keith Sergent
Senior Minister
Keith and Jenny Sergent have been married for 44 years. They have three amazing daughters, Ashley, Brooke, and Kassi; two spectacular sons-in-law, Josh and Lemarr, 10 wonderful grandchildren, and a very spoiled shih-tzu named, Bubba. They love family time, building relationships, cruising, or just watching a good movie on Netflix.
Keith and Jenny’s journey has been marked by a deep passion for serving others and spreading faith. From the early days of their ministry, they have embraced opportunities to connect with people and foster spiritual growth across diverse communities. With over 30 years of ministry, mission work, and Christian education, the two have obtained numerous certificates, diplomas, and awards. However, their greatest accomplishment is knowing Jesus Christ. Throughout their travels and ministry, Keith and Jenny have touched countless lives by emphasizing the transformative power of love and grace. You will discover more of their story as you experience life together with them. They look forward to witnessing all that God will do through the Beech Street Christian Church and in the community. Their hope and expectations are summed up in the following two verses: "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." (Ephesians 3:20-21, NIV).

David Pence
Elder
Dave is a dedicated Elder who has been a valued member of Beech Street Christian Church for 34 years. He graduated from Carter High School and went on to earn his degree from Morehead State University. Happily married to his amazing wife, Susan, for 56 years, they are the proud parents of two children, Rob and Jacqueline, and have been blessed with three wonderful grandchildren: Kirk, Joel, and Lindsey. Dave's commitment to his family, church, and community is truly inspiring. Dave will be among the first members to greet and welcome you to Beech Street Christian Church. He is dedicated to fostering a vibrant church community where faith can flourish. Dave's mission, along with the other members of the leadership team and the congregation at Beech Street Christian Church, is to spread the word of God throughout our community; inviting everyone to join us on a journey of faith and support. Together, we all can grow exponentially sharing the love and hope, that can only be found in Jesus Christ, with those around us. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28, NIV).

John Downey
Elder & Treasurer
John, originally from Elkhart, Indiana, spent his formative years in South Bend. He pursued a degree in mechanical engineering at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology. After graduating, he lived in Cleveland, Ohio for five years before relocating to Ashland, Kentucky in 1975, where he began a career with National Mine Service. With a robust career spanning six manufacturing companies, he has honed his expertise in production control, quality assurance, safety, health, and environmental management. John met his lovely wife, Connie, in December 1976, and they married in October 1977. Together, they have been blessed with two sons and a wonderful daughter-in-law. The family has grown to include four grandchildren, two granddaughters-in-law, and one great-grandson, creating a warm and loving family legacy. He has been a devoted member of BSCC since being baptized in 1991. Over the years, he has taken on various leadership roles, becoming a Deacon in 2015, followed by Treasurer in 2017, and most recently, an Elder in 2023. As a dedicated Elder at Beech Street Christian Church, John is committed to spreading the word of God and fostering a strong sense of community. With years of experience supporting the church, John continues to inspire others through his faith and service. His passion for uplifting those around him reflects his deep-rooted belief in the power of love and community. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16, NIV).

Steve Bowker
Deacon
Steve has been a dedicated member of Beech Street Christian Church for 47 years, demonstrating his commitment through 13 years of service as a Deacon. He works at Glockner South Point Ford, where he brings his passion and expertise to the team. He has been married to his wife, Angie, for 47 wonderful years. They have built a loving family together, raising two children and enjoying the joy of two grandchildren. Steve is also committed to serving at Beech Street Christian Church through his passion for worship; he beautifully presents hymns that resonate deeply with the congregation, creating an uplifting atmosphere during services. His melodious voice not only enhances the worship experience but also inspires others to engage more fully in their spiritual journeys. Through his service as a Deacon and his musical talents, Steve has become a beloved figure in the church, fostering a sense of unity and devotion among the congregants. His unwavering support and community involvement make him a cherished figure among friends, family, and the members at Beech Street Christian Church. "Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." (1 Corinthians 15:58, NIV).

Michael Hannon
Deacon & Dir. of Bands
Michael was born, raised, and has lived in Huntington, WV, all of his life. Music has been a part of his life since a very early age. He was in various school choirs throughout his elementary and early junior high school years; having spent the remainder of his junior high through college years in concert and marching bands as a trumpet player. During its existence, he was a proud member of West Virginia’s only drum & bugle corps. Michael brings over 30 years experience as a high school level marching & drill instructor and a trumpet & brass instructor to the Music Ministry at BSCC. He is looking forward to sharing his musical passion with both children and adults who want to learn about music and with those wanting to further their musical endeavors.
He currently sings at various churches, nursing homes, and senior assisted living facilities with his beautiful wife of 20 years, Katie, as “The Hannons”. Music is a powerful medium that transcends boundaries and connects us to God. Our love for music flows into our praise and worship, creating a heartfelt atmosphere where we honor and glorify the Lord God. Let the melodies lift spirits and the lyrics inspire our souls as we come together in worship. Together, we celebrate His greatness through the gift of music. "Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day." (Psalm 96:1-2, NIV).

Keith Robinson
Bible Study Leader
Keith is a devoted follower of Christ who made the journey from Pikeville, Kentucky to Ashland, Kentucky a decade ago. After graduating from Pikeville High School, Keith committed himself to serving our country. He is a steadfast individual with a strong sense of duty, having served in the United States Army. His commitment to service remains unwavering as he inspires others with his journey and dedication to making a positive impact. He focused himself on studying the word of God, culminating in his retirement two years ago to focus on this mission. Passionate about sharing the Gospel, Keith started a home-based Bible class a year and a half ago, where he teaches weekly. Additionally, he serves as the Wednesday Night Bible Study Leader at Beech Street Christian Church, guiding others in their spiritual growth. "But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15, NIV).

Robin Kirtland
Assistant Treasurer
Robin grew up in the charming Boyd County, Kentucky area where her journey began. After earning her BA in Communications from Eastern Kentucky University, she ventured to Nashville, Tennessee, and was later transferred to sunny southern Florida. Upon the birth of her daughter, Robin was inspired to return to her native Kentucky to be closer to family. Since 2007, she has been an active member of Beech Street Christian Church, attending with her daughter and mother. Now a proud grandmother, Robin cherishes her visits to Nashville, where her daughter and granddaughter reside. Alongside her beloved Goldendoodle, Ellie, and her cat, Winnie, Robin enjoys her retirement from real estate, dedicating her time to her family and volunteering at BSCC. Robin currently serves as the Assistant Treasurer at BSCC, where she plays a crucial role in managing financial operations and ensuring fiscal responsibility. Robin finds the following to be one of the most motivating and reassuring scriptures: "I can do all this through Him who gives me strength." (Philippians 4:13, NIV).
